Using the “Include text” options, users can create Message Template text based on the result of the existence (or non-existence) of a value for the defined token for a patron.
For the Include text if patron has token value option, if a value for the defined Token exists for a patron and thus is available to be automatically entered into a Message Template, a user can add extra text that will also automatically be entered into the Template Content section.
If necessary, clicking the Exclude token value in message check box will not include the defined token’s value in the Message Template—only the extra text from the “Include text” field.
For example: A user selects an Application token and chooses to enter the Submit Date Application Field. The user selects Include text if patron has token value and Exclude token value in message. In the text field, the user enters the text, “Thank you for submitting your application. You will receive a response in 5-7 days.”
For any message based on this Message Template, if a patron has a defined Submit Date value for the message template’s selected application, the defined text (“Thank you for submitting your application. You will receive a response in 5-7 days.”) will be displayed in the message.
For the Include text if patron does not have token value option, if a value for the defined Token DOES NOT exist for a patron, extra text can also be displayed.
For example: A user selects an Application token and chooses the Submit Date Application Field. The user selects Include text if patron does not have token value. In the text field, the user enters the text, “You have not submitted your application. Please complete the application process within 48 hours.”
For any message based on this Message Template, if a patron does not have a defined Submit Date value for the selected Application, the defined text (“You have not submitted your application. Please complete the application process within 48 hours.”) will be displayed in the message.
