Adding an existing inventory item adds a specific asset to a room. The asset must already be defined.
Use the following procedure to add an existing inventory item from the Inventory tab on the Facilities page:
1. From the Facilities section of the Facilities menu, select Manage Facilities.
2. From the Facility Tree, click on a facility to select the facility to view. If necessary, expand the tree by clicking on the expand icon for the desired parent facility.
3. Select the Inventory tab.
4. Click the Add button.
5. Select the item’s Asset Group from the drop-down menu.
6. Select the item’s Asset Type from the drop-down menu.
7. Select the date range the item will be assigned to the facility using the Add On and Remain There Until date menus. Selecting an end date is optional.
8. Check the Add Asset with Serial Number checkbox. This allows searching for the item by asset type.
9. Enter all or part of the inventory item’s serial number in the empty field, and click Lookup. Alternatively, leave the field blank and click Lookup to search for the item using more criteria. The Find Available Assets window will be displayed.
a. Select options from the Use Dates, Condition, and Serial Number menus to search for the inventory item, and click Search. Search results will be displayed in the Asset Lookup Results grid.
If no options are selected, all assets for the selected Asset Type will be displayed.
b. Click Select next to the asset to add, and then click OK. The asset’s serial number will be entered under the Add Asset with Serial Number field.
10. If necessary, adjust any of the remaining fields.
11. Click Save. The Room inventory successfully added message is displayed, and the asset will be added to the List of Inventory Items grid.
