Use the following procedure to add a Preference:
1. Select Preferences from the Setup > Global menu. The Preferences page is displayed.
2. Click Create Preference.
3. Enter a Name for the Preference.
4. Select a Preference Type:
• Facility Preference - A Facility Preference is a patron’s preference for a room assignment. The preference could be for a specific facility, facility type, or facility attribute.
• Roommate Preference - A Roommate Preference is a patron’s preference for a roommate. The preference may describe study habits, sleep habits, or music genre preferences.
5. Select the Preference Source.
• If Facility Preference was selected for the Preference Type, select one of the following Sources:
o | Facility Type | - Allows a patron to select a specific facility type, such as “North Campus”.
o | Specific Facility | - Allows a patron to select a specific facility, such as “Oren Hall”.
o Facility Attribute – Allows a patron to select an attribute value for the selected facility attribute, such as “Class”.
• If Roommate Preference was selected for the Preference Type, select one of the following Sources:
o | Requested Roommate | - Allows a patron to search for and select another patron to request as a roommate.
o Patron Attribute – Allows a patron to select a patron attribute value to describe a requested roommate based on the selected patron attribute, such as “Cleanliness”.
6. By default, the Preference will be displayed and available for use in ResCenter once it is created. If necessary, prevent the Preference from being used by unselecting the Show checkbox.
7. The ID number is generated automatically and cannot be edited.
8. If necessary, change the value for the Max Rank and Default Rank fields.
• Max Rank – Patrons may be allowed to rank their preference choices. The Max Rank value defines the maximum rank value allowed.
• Default Rank – Patrons may be allowed to rank their preference choices. The Default Rank value defines the initial rank value for the Preference when the patron ranks the Preference values.
9. Click Save.
