The purpose of a Switch Lottery is to allow administrators to assign patrons to a different location once they are initially assigned via an Automatic Assignment, Ranked Assignment or manually. Switch Lottery can be used for patrons who are dissatisfied or incompatible with their initial room assignment.
Patrons can be added to Switch Lottery batches if they are already in an assignment contract for the occupancy date range of the Switch Lottery batch. Patrons must also not be suspended to be eligible for a Switch Lottery batch.
In Odyssey HMS, administrators can set-up ranked-based Facility Preferences on an application. This functionality allows administrators to display a complete list of buildings defined for an application and require patrons to rank each building. In ResCenter, the Switch Lottery batch process will then seek to assign patrons to their first, second, third, or fourth facility choice.
